Agartala, January 21: Tripura celebrated its 53rd Statehood Day on Tuesday, with the main event held at the Rabindra Shatabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala.
Chief Minister Manik Saha, accompanied by his cabinet colleagues, Chief Secretary JK Sinha, and DGP Amitabh Ranjan, inaugurated the program by lighting a ceremonial lamp.
A documentary showcasing the state’s development initiatives and efforts toward self-reliance was screened during the event.
The Chief Minister also unveiled the official state logo and released a booklet highlighting government initiatives.
Addressing the gathering, Saha emphasized that Tripura is currently one of the most peaceful states in the region, offering immense potential for development and economic growth.
“Our priority is to attract investment by providing incentives, ease of doing business, and a single-window system for approvals. Investors can now obtain necessary permissions and licenses within 30 days,” he said.
Saha highlighted several key initiatives, including the implementation of an industrial investment policy and the ongoing development of nine industrial estates across the state with a ₹720 crore loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB).
Tripura, a power-surplus state, has also partnered with TATA Technologies to upgrade 19 ITIs with an investment of ₹700 crore to skill local resources in high-demand trades.
The government is promoting start-ups through incubation facilities and working to attract mega investments in sectors like MSMEs, tourism, and digitization.
The Chief Minister also underscored the importance of the Tripura Agar Policy, targeting ₹10,000 crore in revenue over the next decade, alongside initiatives to boost the state’s rubber, tea, and tourism industries.
Saha proudly noted that Tripura recorded the second-highest Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) growth in the North East, transitioning from a performing state to a front-runner in 2023-24 moving ahead in sustainable development goals.
He credited the Act East Policy under Prime Minister Narendra Modi for enabling the state and the region to play a pivotal role in India’s economic transformation, aiming to elevate the nation from the world’s fifth-largest economy to the third.
Meantime DGP Amitabh Ranjan assured that Tripura Police and other security agencies are working to create a crime-free environment conducive to investment and development.
The event concluded with the Chief Minister presenting appreciation certificates to distinguished individuals for their contributions to the state.
