Agartala, Jan 14: Tripura Gramin Bank (TGB), one of the country’s leading profit-making rural banks, inaugurated its new branch equipped with state-of-the-art digital facilities in Nutannagar, a suburban area on the outskirts of Agartala, on Tuesday.
The new branch symbolizes TGB’s commitment to modernization, enhanced customer service, and fostering economic growth in rural areas.
Tripura Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha, inaugurated the branch and, lauded TGB’s efforts in advancing financial inclusion, particularly in remote parts of Tripura.
He highlighted the bank’s significant achievements, including recognition at the Regional Rural Banks Conference in Arunachal Pradesh and praise from the Union Home Minister and DoNER Minister at the Bankers Conclave during the NEC Plenary meeting for its contributions to the Northeast.
Key features of the new branch include: modernized infrastructure for efficient banking services advanced digital banking kiosks for seamless transactions, expanded customer service counters to minimize waiting time and ATM facilities offering services on par with national and international banks.
TGB chairman Satyendra Singh emphasized the bank’s role in empowering rural communities, particularly women entrepreneurs.
“With over 18,000 self-help group (SHG) members holding accounts with TGB, the bank continues to be a significant contributor to rural development,” Singh said.
“TGB has been a trusted partner in Tripura’s rural development for 49 years, operating 150 branches, 13 USBs, and over 476 business correspondence centers. In 2024 alone, the bank recorded a business turnover exceeding ₹13,400 crores.”
He also noted that TGB facilitates over 45% of all financial activities related to government schemes in Tripura, underscoring its pivotal role in the state’s economy.
The inauguration was attended by Anup Kumar Saha, General Manager of TGB, alongside other dignitaries, bank officials, stakeholders, and customers.
With this latest milestone, TGB continues to solidify its position as a leader in rural banking, adapting to digital advancements while remaining committed to its mission of financial inclusion and rural empowerment.
