Agartala: Nov 29: On Friday, the Chief Minister’s Animal Husbandry Honorarium Scheme (Second Phase) and the MPASBY (Mukhya Mantri Pashu Avm Poultry Samman Yojana) scheme were officially launched at a ceremony held at Prajna Bhavan. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp and addressing the gathering. In his speech, the Chief Minister emphasized the importance of developing the Animal Resources Development Department, highlighting that animal husbandry is a vital component of the rural economy. He stated that animal husbandry farmers are essential contributors to the agricultural sector, and the development of this sector is crucial for the overall progress of both the state and the country.
Dr. Saha noted that the state and central governments are working together to strengthen the rural economy, and more people are now showing interest in animal husbandry. New initiatives are being launched to support this growing sector. On this occasion, nearly 5,000 animal farmers were provided with benefits under the Chief Minister’s Animal Husbandry Honorarium Scheme for the 2024-25 period.
The Chief Minister also elaborated on the rules for availing the benefits of the scheme, which include provisions for farmers who experience the death of their livestock or poultry due to abnormal circumstances. Such farmers are eligible for compensation of up to Rs. 20,000. Dr. Saha emphasized that the new projects under the Animal Resources Development Department are not only improving the rural economy but also creating significant employment opportunities.
In addition to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, the event was attended by several dignitaries, including Minister Sudhangshu Das, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumdar, Deputy Mayor Monika Das Dutta, and Secretary of the Animal Resources Development Department Deepa D Nayar, among other officials.
