Agartala: Nov 15: An Indian tout was arrested by the police based on a tip-off with the assistance of BSF and Amtali police last night. The arrest was made by the Government Railway Police (GRP) in a joint operation from the Belabor Pal Para area. GRP Officer-in-Charge, Tapas Das, confirmed that the accused, Raju Mia (40), had been involved in a previous case and was aiding Bangladeshi nationals in crossing the border illegally for a long time. During questioning, the names of other Indian touts in the area also surfaced, and efforts will be made to bring them to justice soon.
Das further stated that Raju Mia is currently being interrogated by the GRP police. The police will seek his remand in court tomorrow. This operation was part of a crackdown on cross-border illegal activities, with joint efforts from BSF and Amtali police to curb the smuggling of individuals across the border. The arrest highlights ongoing efforts to address illegal immigration and trafficking networks operating along the border areas. The authorities are continuing their investigation into the matter.
