**Agartala:** A review meeting for the upcoming ‘Mayer Gomon’ (Mother’s Arrival) and ‘Sharad Samman-2024′ events was held at Muktadhara Auditorium in the capital on Sunday. The meeting was attended by Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumdar, West District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Agartala Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Yadav, West District Police Superintendent Kiran Kumar K, Information and Culture Department Secretary P.K. Chakraborty, Department Officer Bimbisar Bhattacharya, and representatives from various clubs.
Mayor Deepak Majumdar emphasized the evolving thoughts and attitudes of people over time. He mentioned that Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha had proposed the area in front of Tulsibati Girls’ School for the ‘Mayer Gomon’ event, a suggestion supported by various clubs. The site has already been inspected, and some road adjustments have been made following discussions.
Mayor Majumdar urged all participating clubs to avoid using DJ sound systems, advocating instead for showcasing the country’s culture and traditions. He highlighted the potential health risks of DJ sound systems and stressed the importance of ensuring that enjoyment does not harm others. He also noted that no laborers are required for idol immersion at Dashmi Ghat and that sound instruments are prohibited there. The Agartala Municipal Corporation will provide 50 pairs of drums at Dashmi Ghat, along with arrangements for ululation.
Information and Culture Department Officer Bimbisar Bhattacharya explained that the Pujas in Agartala city and surrounding areas have been divided into nine zones for the ‘Mayer Gomon’ event. He detailed the routes for idol processions from various areas to Tulsibati School. Representatives from the various clubs present at the meeting agreed with the administrative decisions.
