Jiribam, July 14: Security Personnel were injured in a gunfight between security force and kuki militants today morning at Seijang kuki village of Jiribam District.
The gunfight took place at around 8:00 am after the security personnel went out for regular area sanitisation toward the JT road. Meanwhile, the seijang kuki village which is on the hillside nearby the JT road attacked over the security convey.
At an initial report, it was learnt two security personnel were injured in an exchange of fire.
The injured personnel were evacuated and additional force were arranged , a joint team of State Force, CRPF and Assam Rifles moved towards Seijang kuki village.
It might be recall here that Seijang village is located nearly 6km from Jiribam District headquarter. Two-day before a heavy firing took place from the village to the Mongbung Meitei village which is adjacent to the Seijang village.
On Saturday at around 6:00 pm, the suspected kuki militants set fire a house at Leingangpokpi owned by one N. Sadananda Meitei ,Advisor of Jiri Development Organisation. After that few rounds of gun firing had been heard from Seijang kuki village. In connection with the incident, today a joint team of State force and CRPF went towards JT road for area sanitization, whereas it came under fierce gun attacked.
