Agartala, May 15:
Long queues were witnessed outside several fuel stations across Agartala on Friday evening as panic buying gripped motorists following the latest fuel price hike and growing public concern over supply disruptions.
Hundreds of vehicle owners rushed to petrol pumps in different parts of the city, leading to traffic congestion and overcrowding at multiple filling stations. Many consumers were seen purchasing fuel in extra quantities amid fears of a possible shortage.
The rush came despite repeated assurances from the state government and oil supply authorities that there is no fuel crisis in Tripura at present.
Chief Minister Manik Saha also appealed to the public not to panic, stating that adequate fuel stocks are available and supply chains remain operational.
The sudden surge in demand was primarily driven by rumours and panic buying rather than any actual shortage, while authorities continued monitoring the situation to prevent disruption in supply.
