Agartala: Jan 18: Acting on a tip-off, East Agartala police have successfully seized 5.1 kilograms of dried marijuana and arrested a youth from Bihar. The marijuana, estimated to be worth over one lakh rupees, was recovered following a raid near Yogendranagar railway station. According to Officer-in-Charge (OC) Rana Chatterjee, the police had received credible information about an individual smuggling marijuana through the station. Based on this, a targeted operation was launched in the Yogendranagar area.
During the raid, police apprehended Vikram Kumar, a resident of Bihar, and upon searching him, found the significant stash of marijuana. The recovery highlights the police’s ongoing efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region. OC Rana Chatterjee confirmed that the arrested individual would be presented before the court, where the police will seek his remand for further investigation.
The seizure of such a large quantity of narcotics underscores the growing concerns around drug-related crimes in the area. The police have expressed their commitment to intensifying efforts to prevent the smuggling and distribution of illegal substances, with the arrest of Vikram Kumar marking a significant breakthrough in their fight against drug trafficking.
