Agartala, December 29: The Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), the youth wing of the CPIM, organized a massive protest rally in Agartala on Sunday to voice concerns over alleged rising unemployment, increasing drug trafficking, and the deteriorating law and order situation in Tripura.
The rally commenced from Hapania, on the outskirts of Agartala, and concluded near the Battala area, drawing a large number of participants carrying flags and raising slogans to highlight their demands.
DYFI leaders alleged that the ruling BJP-led double-engine government came to power on the back of false promises of development and creating at least 50,000 jobs annually, but has failed to deliver on these assurances. Instead, they claimed, the government’s actions have been contrary to its pre-election commitments.
The organization highlighted that a large number of vacancies exist in various government departments, yet these posts remain unfilled.
DYFI accused the government of exploiting unemployed youths by offering contractual jobs instead of permanent employment, with allegations of bribes being demanded by ruling party leaders for securing these positions.
DYFI leaders stated that the unemployment rate in Tripura is significantly higher than the national average, forcing many youths to migrate to other states in search of work.
The protesters demanded that the state government take immediate and effective measures to address unemployment and create sustainable job opportunities for the youth.
DYFI warned the government of more intensified protests across the state if their demands are not met promptly.
They called upon the state administration to address the issues of unemployment, tackle the menace of drug trafficking, and restore law and order in Tripura.
The protest rally marks another instance of public discontent over governance issues in the state and underscores the challenges faced by the ruling BJP-led government in fulfilling its electoral promises.
