Agartala: Dec 03: On Tuesday, the Khelo Tripura Para Games for the West Tripura district were officially inaugurated at the Khudiram Bose English Medium School ground in Agartala. Minister Tinku Ray lit the lamp to mark the beginning of the games and delivered an inspiring speech to the athletes, encouraging them to pursue their goals with determination. He emphasized that having a fixed goal is the key to success and assured the athletes that no one could stop them from achieving greatness.
Minister Ray highlighted the central government’s ongoing efforts for the welfare of differently-abled children over the past decade. He outlined several initiatives aimed at improving their quality of life and boosting their self-esteem. One notable change was the increase in the monthly pension for the differently-abled, which has been raised from Rs. 500 to Rs. 2000. Additionally, the financial assistance for marriage has seen a significant rise, from Rs. 5000 to Rs. 50,000 under the present government.
In an exciting announcement, Minister Ray revealed that the winners of the Khelo Tripura Para Games will have the opportunity to participate in the Para Olympics, set to take place at the Swami Vivekananda Maidan in Agartala on December 18th and 19th.
The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Deepak Majumdar, who also participated in the inauguration. The Khelo Tripura Para Games not only serve as a platform for differently-abled athletes to showcase their talents but also foster a sense of inclusivity and empowerment in the region.
