Agartala, November 17: In a significant breakthrough, the East Agartala police, in coordination with officials from the MG Bazar outpost, arrested a notorious drug dealer, Sampad Ghosh (44), from the Pratapgarh area of Agartala on Sunday. The operation was carried out based on credible intelligence inputs.
During the raid, police recovered three soap cases containing approximately 35 grams of heroin from Ghosh’s possession. The seized contraband is estimated to have a market value of ₹5 lakh.
Following the arrest, a specific case was registered under the relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Ghosh was subsequently presented in court with a request for police remand to further investigate his connections and activities in the region.
This arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing crackdown on drug trafficking in Agartala, as authorities continue to intensify efforts against the narcotics trade in the state.
