Agartala: Oct 17: Union Minister of State for External Affairs and Textiles, Paban Bharali, expressed strong appreciation for the handicrafts and designs created by Tripura’s artisans during her visit to the Weavers Service Center in Agartala. She emphasized the government’s commitment to promoting the handloom and handicraft industry in the state.
During her visit, Bharali inspected an exhibition showcasing bamboo, cane, silk, and other handicrafts. She highlighted the various government schemes aimed at supporting the weaving industry and protecting artisans, assuring that efforts are being made to implement these initiatives effectively.
“The Northeast is the land of eight goddesses. Previously, Union Ministers rarely visited this region. However, under the Prime Minister’s directive, a Union Minister now visits the Northeast every 15 days. The Prime Minister himself has visited the Northeast 60 times,” Bharali stated.
In addition to her visit to the Weavers Service Center, Bharali held a review meeting with officials from the state’s Handloom and Silk Department. She also visited the Union Ministry of Textiles’ office and the state’s handloom and handicraft stall in Purbasha. Following her three-day visit, she returned to Delhi today.
