Opposition CPIM made allegations of poll violence and false voting and submitted memorandum to Khowai District Magistrate Chandri Chandran and sought her intervention into incidents of alleged poll violence, opposition poll agents purportedly denied entry into polling stations and intimidation against opposition party supporters.
Local MLA and senior CPIM leader Nirmal Biswas said his party has apprised the administration of the ground situation and commented that three-tier panchayat polls in Tripura was relegated to a festival of mockery instead of a festival of democracy.
Asked if the Communist party would seek repolling, Biswas said, “We haven’t yet decided anything on this. We are keeping a close watch and have apprised the administration. Let us see what steps they take, and how the situation unfolds across the state. After that, we shall analyse the situation and comment”.
