Agartala, July 31: A gang of five members involved in stealing bikes and tuk-tuks was arrested by the East Agartala police on Wednesday, said a senior police official.
Deba Prasad Roy, Subdivision Police Officer of Sadar subdivision, speaking to reporters, detailed the police’s success in apprehending the gang and recovering the recent stolen vehicles.
The operation began with a specific case involving the theft of a bike, leading to the formation of a dedicated police team. The team successfully arrested the gang leader, whose information during interrogation led to a raid in Nathpara, near Agartala railway station.
During the raid, police arrested three more gang members and recovered two stolen motorbikes and a tuk-tuk.
Another gang member was subsequently arrested, bringing the total to five.
All those arrested have been forwarded to court, with a request for police remand to facilitate further interrogation.
