Agartala, July 26: As part of its nationwide programme, Congress, along with its youth and women organizations, staged a protest in Agartala on Friday over alleged discrimination against opposition-ruled states in the union Budget and burned its copies.
Protesting against the Budget, Neel Kamal Saha, state president of the Youth Congress, stated that the recent Budget is anti-people and only serves the interests of two states—Bihar and Andhra Pradesh—where the BJP has ally partners.
He claimed the allocations of ₹26,000 crores to Bihar and ₹15,000 crores to Andhra Pradesh were made solely to appease Nitish Kumar and Chandrababu Naidu, suggesting the BJP-led government at the centre is unstable without their support.
Saha further criticized the Budget as being anti-farmer, anti-youth, and anti-middle class, highlighting that their protest aims to bring attention to these issues.
He described the Budget as deceptive and unjust, with the primary objective of protecting the government.
During the protest, demonstrators carried placards reading “Budget for NDA and not for India” and took out a rally through Agartala, culminating in front of the Congress Bhavan here with the burning of symbolic copies of the Budget.
