Agartala, June 25: The State Election Commission (SEC) today said that the final voter list for the upcoming Panchayat elections includes a total of 12,94,060 voters. The election date is expected to be announced in the first week of July and polling likely to happen during the first week of August.
Speaking to reporters, State Election Commissioner Saradindu Chowdhury stated that the final voter list was published yesterday.
“The final publication of the voter list for the Panchayat Poll was completed yesterday. According to the list, there are a total of 12,94,060 voters, including 6,58,589 males, 6,35,460 females, and 11 in other categories,” Chowdhury said.
He further mentioned that the election date will be declared in the first week of July, with polling likely to take place in the first week of August.
The upcoming election will be held for 6,370 seats in Gram Panchayats, 423 seats in Panchayat Samitis, and 116 seats in Zila Parishads.
