Agartala, June 21: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha, alongside Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Olympiad gymnast Dipa Karmakar and several other dignitaries participated in the International Yoga Day celebrations held in Agartala on Friday.
The event took place at the International Exhibition Ground at Hapania and saw enthusiastic participation from hundreds of residents, students, and yoga enthusiasts.
The celebration, aimed at promoting the physical and mental benefits of yoga, featured a series of yoga sessions led by experienced instructors.
Chief Minister Saha and Minister Roy joined the participants in performing various yoga asanas, emphasizing the importance of incorporating yoga into daily routines for holistic health and well-being.
Later speakingtoreporters, Chief Minister Saha highlighted the rile of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in global recognition of yoga as a valuable practice for enhancing physical health and mental peace.
He encouraged citizens to adopt yoga as a regular practice, stating, “Yoga is not just a form of exercise; it is a way of life that fosters balance, harmony, and well-being for self development and of the society.”
He also emphasized of cultivation and consumption of millet which has been declared ‘Shree Anna’
Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Tinku Roy echoed these sentiments, stressing the role of yoga in promoting a healthy lifestyle among the youth.
“By integrating yoga into our daily lives, we can build a healthier and more resilient community and the government is reintroducing yoga especially among educational institutions and youths” he said.
Similar was the view of Dipa Karmakar who urged everyone to practice yoga regularly and adopt it as part of lifestyle.
The event was marked by vibrant demonstrations of advanced yoga techniques by local practitioners.
A demo millet cultivation stall was also installed to demonstrated and popularise millet.
