Agartala, June 10:Amid allegations of irregularities in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) 2024 results, hundreds of students affiliated with the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) gathered in front of Ujjayanta Palace to protest against the National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the exam.
Protesters claimed there were significant mistakes in the results and called the process unfair, demanding a CBI probe into the entire matter to identify and punish those involved.
They also called for fresh exams nationwide and the release of a new list of selected students.
The announcement of the NEET UG 2024 results on June 4 has raised widespread concerns among students and parents, leading to protests across India.
Protesters carried signs and shouted slogans, demanding a “fair review” of the exam process. They also alleged ‘paper leak, highjacking of exam centers and giving grace marks.’
The ABVP, the student wing of the RSS, has spearheaded the protests, insisting on a CBI investigation into the NEET UG 2024 exam, citing major issues in its conduct and evaluation.
They have vowed to continue protesting until their demand for an investigation is met, urging authorities to address the alleged flaws in the exam system and stop the use of grace marks.
The NEET UG 2024 results caused an uproar after 67 students achieved the top rank with a perfect score, with six of them from the same exam centre in Haryana. Additionally, a few students scored 718 and 719 out of 720, which many students argued was improbable given the exam’s difficulty.
Following the results announcement, numerous students questioned the number of top scorers and the awarding of grace marks, while also alleging a possible paper leak. The NTA, however, has denied these allegations, stating that the paper was relatively easier this year.
The protests highlight the growing discontent among students and parents regarding the integrity of the NEET examination process, putting pressure on authorities to address these concerns promptly.
