Agartala: April 24: In a joint effort, the Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate and the Food Department conducted a thorough inspection of the vegetable and wholesale markets in Maharajganj today. During this operation, widespread irregularities were uncovered.
Notably, the prices of onions and potatoes were found to be 5 rupees higher than the usual rates. The Food Department has taken note of these discrepancies and is prepared to initiate legal action against the traders responsible.
An official from the food department explained that the recent rise in vegetable prices prompted this investigation. The team visited various shops within the Maharajganj market to verify the accuracy of food item prices. Unfortunately, the irregularities discovered during the inspection were significant.
As a result, the authorities are committed to maintaining vigilance. They intend to continue similar operations in the days ahead to ensure fair pricing and uphold consumer rights.
