Agartala, April 16: With Prime Minister Narendra Modi scheduled to address a public gathering on Wednesday in support of BJP candidate Biplab Kumar Deb, the political fervor in Agartala escalated today as Priyanka Gandhi Vadra led a spirited roadshow.
Vadra, campaigning for the INDIA block candidate for the West Tripura parliamentary constituency, Asish Kumar Saha, and the Ramnagar by-election candidate Ratan Das, embarked on the roadshow from the Circuit House area, traversing through the bustling streets of the capital city.
She is the inaugural star campaigner to grace the state, spearheading a brief campaign for the INDIA bloc candidates from Congress and CPIM.
Notably, these parties, erstwhile rivals in Tripura, forged an alliance ahead of the 2023 assembly election to challenge the BJP, which reclaimed power.
Earlier this month, Kanhaiya Kumar was slated to participate in the nomination submission rally for the INDIA bloc but had to abruptly cancel his trip at the eleventh hour.
The event underscored the intensified campaign efforts ahead of the impending elections, with both major political parties vying for public support in Tripura.
