Agartala: Mar 22: In a press conference held today, MLA Sudeep Roy Barman, representing the All India Congress, raised serious allegations against the central government. Barman accused the government of orchestrating a conspiracy to cripple the party economically in anticipation of defeat in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The crux of Barman’s complaint lies in the unethical freezing of the Congress party’s bank account. According to him, this move is aimed at preventing the party from effectively participating in the electoral process. With the account inaccessible, the Congress faces significant challenges in funding campaigns and mobilizing resources for the crucial elections.
Barman did not mince words when he pointed fingers at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government. He labeled their actions as the “biggest scam of extortion by force”, suggesting that the ruling party is deliberately undermining the democratic process. The alleged financial restrictions, he claimed, are part of a larger pattern where political parties are being targeted by investigative agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
As the election season unfolds, these allegations add fuel to an already charged political atmosphere. The Congress, now part of the I.N.D.I.A. alliance, is determined to contest the elections despite the hurdles it faces.
