Agartala, March 16:In a notable development, the recently allied main opposition party TIPRA Motha party, participated in their first joint campaign with the ruling BJP government on Saturday.
The event took place at the Agartala Town Hall and was organized by the Janajati Morcha, tribal wing of the BJP.
The event, saw the presence of key figures including former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb and Rajya Sabha member, who is contesting for the West Tripura parliamentary seat, along with Kriti Singh Debbarma, the BJP candidate for the ST reserved East Tripura seat.
Top BJP leaders including president Rajib Bhattacharjee, Chief Minister Manik Saha, and Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma and Industry Minister Santana Chakma were also in attendance, underlining the significance of the event.
Addressing the gathering, Biplab Kumar Deb emphasized the BJP’s commitment to the development and upliftment of indigenous communities, contrasting it with the policies of previous governments.
He highlighted the strides made under PM Modi’s leadership, stressing the party’s ethos of inclusive growth.
Echoing similar sentiments, Chief Minister Manik Saha expressed confidence in the BJP’s ability to secure a decisive victory in the upcoming elections, citing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s assurances of respect and development for tribal communities.
Kriti Singh Debbarma, the BJP candidate for East Tripura, emphasized unity and collaboration between BJP and TIPRA Motha supporters, underscoring the joint effort towards state development.
TIPRA Motha supremo Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, who later joined the event, rallied support for the alliance, urging voters to elect joint candidates to ensure PM Narendra Modi’s continued leadership and the fulfillment of indigenous people’s aspirations.
In a scathing critique of the Congress leadership, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma accused them of neglecting Tripura’s development for political gains elsewhere.
He praised BJP’s commitment to tribal welfare and cited instances of historical neglect under Congress and Communist rule.
Highlighting the significance of the alliance, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma expressed gratitude for BJP’s efforts in addressing tribal issues, emphasizing the transformative potential of the joint representation from West and East Tripura seats.
