Agartala: Mar 14: In an extraordinary turn of events, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has achieved the seemingly impossible: lotus flowers blooming in a pineapple. Meanwhile, the BJP government has executed a strategic coup, successfully toppling Pradyot Kishore Debbarman’s party. The political landscape in Tripura has shifted dramatically, with the BJP consolidating its power base and reshaping the state’s political dynamics.
However, not everyone is celebrating. Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Modi during a press conference at Congress Bhavan. Barman emphasized that, historically, only Congress has championed the development of Tripura, particularly for tribal communities.
Barman didn’t mince words when criticizing Pradyot Kishore Debbarman, accusing him of exploiting Tripurians’ sentiments during the Lok Sabha elections. The formation of the Tipra Motha party in Madhavbari, ostensibly to oppose the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), raised eyebrows. Curiously, even after the CAA’s nationwide implementation, Pradyot Kishore Debbarman has maintained silence, leading some to question his stance on the controversial legislation. Asserting that the tribal population is far from naive, Barman rallied Tripurians to join Congress and strengthen the party’s position. He also highlighted the tumultuous period under former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, characterized by lawlessness and disorder. However, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha’s leadership has ushered in positive changes, restoring law and order in Tripura.
As the political landscape continues to evolve, these developments promise an intriguing battle in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
