Agartala, January 6:In an effort to motivate and raise awareness about the adoption of scientific methods in cattle rearing, the state veterinary hospital cum policlinic at Abhoynagar under the Animal Resources Development Department (ARDD) organized a ‘Calf Rally and Milky Yield Competition’ on Saturday at Chandrapur Junior Basic School in the outskirts of Agartala.
A significant number of participants, accompanied by their cows and calves, actively took part in the event.
The initiative also included a free foot-and-mouth (F&M) disease vaccination and health camp for cattle.
During the camp, participant cattle underwent examination, treatment, and received free vaccinations and medicines.
The competition featured three categories: 6-12 months, 13-28 months, and milching cows.
Beyond the contest, the primary objective of the event was to inspire people to engage in cow farming.
The initiative aims to contribute towards the state’s self-sufficiency in milk production, while also promoting organic farming and the use of cow dung for biofuels.
ARDD of government of Tripura is organized similarly programs across the state.
The event not only showcased the dedication of cattle rearers but also provided essential veterinary services, fostering a healthier and more scientific approach to cattle farming in Tripura.
