Agartala, Oct 18: Opposition is misleading the people of the state about the public distribution scheme to heat up the political market ahead of Puja. Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury raised the tone against various political parties in a press conference at the Secretariat today. According to him, during the last 25 years of rule, no government has taken such an initiative on public distribution.
On this day, he said, the government is committed to deliver daily necessities to the people in the public distribution system. On October 10, the Chief Minister inaugurated the programme of supply of mustard oil and other products in the public distribution system under the initiative of the Department of Food, Public Procurement and Consumer Affairs at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan.
On this day, he also said that this is the first time that mustard oil will be given to the consumers through the ration shop on the initiative of the state government. 9 lakh 70 thousand ration card holders across the state will be given 1 liter of mustard oil. This mustard oil will be distributed to consumers at subsidized rates four times a year. Mustard oil tender has been fixed at Rs 128 per litre. However, the state government has decided to give a one-time subsidy of Rs 15 more on this price. But it has been seen that the opposition parties are misleading the people of the state regarding public distribution.
In his sarcasm, the previous government had no mentality to provide everything from mustard oil during its 25-year rule in the state. But during the rule of the BJP government, it has shown the mentality of providing various things starting from mustard oil. Today, the opposition is trying to mislead the people of the state by contradicting that mentality.
