Agartala, October 5th: TIPRA Motha party, which is currently in power within the TTAADC, has voiced concerns about a fund shortage, attributing it to the BJP-led state government’s alleged failure to allocate sufficient resources for tribal area development. In response, the party’s founder, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, announced plans to hold a mammoth political rally at Khumulwng on 14th of this month, and during which he intends to make important declarations and clarify the party’s stance.
Debbarma’s announcement followed a meeting with Chief Secretary JK Sinha at the secretariat, discussing the ongoing financial crisis in the TTAADC, which has resulted in the suspension of development projects and delayed salary payments to government employees.
Earlier, Debbarma had also discussed the same issue with Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
Before departing for New Delhi, Pradyot hinted at TIPRA Motha’s intention to revive its protest movement against the government for failing to fulfill its promises and provide funds for the TTAADC.
Notably, six days ago, the party organized a strike across the state’s district council areas, demanding a separate tribal state known as ‘Greater Tipraland.’
It’s worth noting that while the Bharatiya Janata Party holds power in the state, TIPRA Motha has governed the TTAADC since 2021.
Regarding his former political colleague Sudip Roy Barman’s recent appeal for Debbarma to return to the grand old party and take leadership in the state, Pradyot, the former Congress president of Tripura, stated that his current focus is on providing constitutional solutions for the tribal population.
