Agartala, July 25:As part of its nationwide protest program the Centre of Indian Trade Union (CITU) on Tuesday organised a protest in Agartala.
The protesters demanded the restoration of peace in violence-hit Manipur and resignation of Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh.
They viewed that the CM of Manipur has failure to restore peace in the state which for the last 80 to 85 has been suffering due to the communal violence between the two communities.
The protest started from Office Lane area here and raised slogans against the central government and state government of Manipur.
They alleged that under CM Biren peace will not restore as the government is supporting a certain section of people who are involved in the violence and for continuing the communal war for political mileage.
The protesters viewed that what is happening in Manipur today is repetition of what had happened once happened in Gujarat when Modi was Chief Minister of that state.
The protests also alleged that Prime Minister Narendra Modi instructed of removing CM Biren Singh from his office is busy working to stop discussion on the issue in the Parliament and to ensure ways in resolving this matter which took more than 150 lives, hundreds of people are missing and more than 50,000 homeless.
Condemning and raising concern regarding the recent incident of two women paraded naked and gang raped the protesters viewed that more such horrific violence have occurred in Manipur and which shall be revealed later when internet will be restored there.
The protesters raised slogans against the state and central government’s handling of the situation in the northeastern state.
They demanded immediate action, including the dismissal of the current Chief Minister in the strife-torn state, as a means to address the escalating crisis.
They said that the “divisive policy” of the BJP was responsible for the situation in Manipur.
They also raised slogans, demanding that the government should put an end to atrocities against the women in Manipur.
