Agartala, June 29 :Tripura Police arrested four drug dealers including three from Bihar with heroin worth Rs 1.5 crores in Agartala on Thursday said a senior police official.
This is the second success of the state police in its fight against drugs on the day. Earlier in the day police in Dhalai district had sized heroin worth Rs 14 crores which was being transported from neighbouring Mizoram and two drug dealers were arrested.
Dr Kiran Kumar, Superintendent of Police (SP) West Tripura district said that police from the New Capita Complex (NCC) police station on the basis of specific input had setup a checkpoint near Buddhamandir area and during checking of an autorickshaw recovered eight cases of heroin weighing 97 grams and the market value of which is approximately Rs 1.5 crores.
The SP added that four persons including the driver of the autorickshaw has been arrested and out of them three are from Bihar while one is resident of Khejurbagan area in Tripura’s capital Agartala.
The arrested has been identified as one Raj Kumar, Chota Kumar, Dharmandra Kumar, all three from Bihar and Ramananda Rao of Agartala.
Police has taken a specific case under NDPS Act against them.
The SP informed that all of them shall be produced in the court on Friday with a plea for police remand for further investigation and interrogation to crack their operandi modus and associates.
