A high level meeting was held here under the leadership of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and in presence of Chief Secretary JK Sinha, Special Secretary Revenue, Officials of the Disaster Management, Director IMD and other to review the impact and necessary preparedness across the state as cyclone Mocha formed over Bay of Bengal intensifies.
This was informed during a press conference on Saturday evening during a press conference at the secretariat by Dr Sarat Das, State Project Officer, Disaster Management Tripura government.
He added that cyclone Mocha is predicted to make landfall on Sunday morning and the powerful storm move towards the Bangladesh-Myanmar coast.
However, it is likely to have some effects in four out of the eight districts of Tripura and according the DM’s have been issued warning advisory to take necessary emergency measures as per the disaster management plan in order to ensure minimal damage said Dr Das.
He added that disaster management control rooms have setup beside the disaster management teams, civil defense, paramilitary forces, NDRF etc kept ready for any emergency response.
However, he said that as per the IMD predictions the impact of the cyclone is likely to be less severe as the direction is changing towards Myanmar.
