KANGPOKPI, May 11: Despite the state and central Government claiming Manipur being back to normalcy, incidents of violence such as firing, killing, etc.still surfaced at various places in the state.
After a firing incident yesterday at Dolaithabi where one jawan of Assam Rifles had a critical injury, another violence incident of firing was reported this morning at Molpheitampak in Churachandpur District while thousands mobs bring back a burning scene along the National Highway-2 in Kangpokpi district.
The firing incident at Molpheitampak, bordering Bishnupur and Churachandpur reportedly occurred at 8:30 am between the two communities while it was reported that two Manipur police commandos and three civilians from the dominant Meitei community had lost their lives in the incident.
Para-military forces have reportedly occupied the area now.
Meanwhile, engaged with the coming again of essential commodities loaded trucks heading towards the Imphal side, thousands of mobs from Kangpokpi town till Motbung towards Imphal side and from Kangpokpi town to Taphou Kuki towards Dimapur side, block the national highway with logs, burning tyres, and stones.
The irate mobs at Kangpokpi town also burnt down a car along the highway near downtown I.T.Road at around noon.
Blockade of the highway with stones, logs, and burning tyres has been witnessed at Hengbung, and South Changoubung till Kangpokpi town while at Kangpokpi town, thousands mobs were seen engaged in blocking the highway by piling up stones, logs, and stone at various locations.
Similarly, from Kangpokpi town till Motbung, blockade of the highway has been witnessed at Keithelmanbi, Leikop, Saparmeina, and Motbung village along the Imphal-Dimapur road.
Volunteers were also seen transported by Shaktiman, DI Tata, Auto, in bulk at various locations while most of the volunteers were seen carrying catapults.
Meanwhile, a reliable source informed that the essential commodities trucks returned back towards Dimapur side after the mobs agitations from Hengbung village.
Despite the intense violence agitation by the mobs, no untoward incidents have been reported till filing of this report.
