Additional Director General (ADG) of the National Cadet Corps (NCC) Directorate, North Eastern Region, Shillong, Major General Gagan Deep on Wednesday paid his maiden visit to Tripura said that the holistic solution to the problems of the region including drugs and violence is to ‘discipline the youth force and problems shall be automatically resolved.’
Major General Gagan Deep who is touring and with the effort to explore opportunities for the extension of NCC activities in the region said this speaking to reporters in the sideline of interaction with the students of St Pauls school in Agartala.
The ADG NCC said, “With direction from the highest level we are trying to identify how we can expand the footprints of NCC, particularly in Tripura. As far as work ethics and integration of Tripura with nation’s goals, there is no doubt that it is one of the best performing state and every cadet or the teacher I have met they are committed to the national cause and national ethos.”
He said, “We have to understand that the future of our country lies with our youths and every aspect, every machinery of the government and the society has to work to make them strong. If a nation has to go strong, our youths have to go strong. The ability and capability of the children of Northeast is beyond doubt. We have one of the best capable student and college going people in the Northeast.”
The NCC ADG viewed that peace is precondition for development and Northeast India which has been overall all peaceful has witnessed exponential development for the last on decade.
“As far as development of the Northeast is concern, Northeast has overall been very peaceful and you can see in the last decade when peace has come here development has actually progressed and gone much faster,” said Major General Gagan Deep.
On the present disturbed scenario in some parts of the region and the challenge like drugs and unemployment which the youths of the region faced the he said, “Any problem and every problem has to be tackled in a holistic manner where all organs of the society have to take part. In NCC the main aim is to ensure that the youth is part of the national mainstream which is unity and discipline. I keep telling students with the support of principals and teachers in schools that the basic essence of the message here is that we have to be disciplined in every aspect of life. Once we have a disciplined youth force all the other issues will be resolved on their own.”
A colourful cultural programme with representatives from various communities and tribes of the region depicting the unity in diversity was performed in which the NCC cadets performed.
The cadets also interacted with Major General Gagan Deep and viewed that they had joined NCC which has brought discipline among them beside self-confident and the zeal to serve the nation by joining the army and security forces.
