Agartala: Feb 19: State Election Commission Chief Officer Kiran Gittye held a meeting with all political parties at West Tripura District Governor’s Conference Hall on Sunday. The post-poll law and order situation in the state was discussed in the meeting. In the meeting, the Chief Electoral Officer said that as promised, the Election Commission of India has conducted free, fair, transparent and peaceful assembly elections in the state.
He thanked all the political parties for their cooperation in making this assembly election free, fair and transparent. The Chief Electoral Officer, requested all political parties in Tripura to appeal to their supporters to be tolerant and show patience and not take law into their hands. In case of any violent incident they should approach the Sub-Divisional Magistrate and concerned police authorities. Personal enmity and family feuds cannot be termed as political events.
Because it will send the wrong message to the society and may worsen the law and order situation. The Election Commission of India is monitoring the law and order situation in the state on a daily basis. No post-poll violence will be tolerated. Sufficient CRPF has been found to ensure peace and tranquility. Police authorities and CRPF will take strict action against those involved in disrupting law and order in the state. The Chief Electoral Officer appealed to all political parties to cooperate in maintaining law and order before and after the counting of votes. He informed in the meeting that any untoward incident like political violence will be dealt with firmly.
