Agartala: Feb 14: On Tuesday afternoon, before the end of campaigning, an atmosphere of unrest prevailed in the Deputy Chief Minister’s Assembly constituency. The incident took place in Lalsingmura under the Legislative Assembly. On this day, 12 BJP workers were injured in a political clash between Tipra Motha and BJP. Agitated Tipra Motha supporters allegedly vandalized the BJP party office. Besides, they ransacked several shops in the area.
Agitators also vandalized cars, auto rickshaws, motorbikes and other properties. At least 12 BJP workers were reportedly injured in the attack. The injured have been rescued and taken to hospital. Additional police and security personnel have been deployed in the area to handle the situation. Police and election office officials rushed to the spot. It has been reported that all measures have been taken by the administration to prevent the recurrence of political violence. Since the incident, the people of both castes and tribes of the area are in panic. Many questions have started to be asked whether the polling phase will be held peacefully in the constituency of the Deputy Chief Minister of the state, Jishnu Dev Varma. Both Tipra Motha and BJP are unwilling to give an inch to their opponents at this centre. As the situation in Lal Singh Mura area heated up on the last day of the campaign, the common voters panicked.
