Agartala: Feb 12: The political situation in Belonia suddenly heated up on Sunday. At noon on this day, miscreants attacked at different places and seriously injured four people. The injured were brought to Belonia Hospital and two were shifted from Belonia to GB as their condition was critical. The BJP alleged that Debajit Das, a resident of Satmura area and a BJP activist, took his father to the railway station on Sunday morning, but on his way back he was attacked by several youths when he went to have tea at a shop. Debajit was seriously injured there. He was brought to Belonia Hospital.
After this incident another BJP worker named Gopal Bhowmik was attacked by miscreants on his way to the area adjacent to the Bilonia Agri office. He was also seriously injured. Apart from this, two more BJP workers were injured in two separate incidents on the same day. One of them is Biswajit Chakraborty, Deputy Head of Purba Baranseema Panchayat. Four people were taken to Belonia Hospital, among them Akash Das and Gopal Bhowmik, who were shifted to GB Hospital as their condition was critical. Meanwhile, several journalists of local electronics and print media went to Belonia Hospital to gather news, and several miscreants were motivated to attack them. Both are pushed into it. Mobile phones of both were snatched and thrown away.
On seeing such incidents on the journalists, the concerned persons present there came forward and saved them from their hands. Meanwhile, BJP has alleged that CPM and Congress workers are directly involved in this incident. In protest after the incident, on this day, BJP activists and supporters excited BJP workers went to Belonia police station and demonstrated. Demands immediate arrest and punishment of the culprits. BJP party workers and supporters wipe after bringing the injured to Belonia Hospital. The incident created tension in the hospital premises. On hearing the news, a huge security force rushed to the hospital premises. Meanwhile, in view of this incident, the political situation in Belonia has become heated. Belonia Divisional Police Officer said the situation is being monitored. Additional security forces have been deployed at the places where incidents are taking place. At present the situation is under control of the administration.
