Agartala: Jan 30: The final day of the Tripura assembly elections has seen a rush to submit nomination papers. Independent candidates including BJP, Congress, Trinamool Congress, Tipra Motha, IPFT and CPM have started filing nominations today. Nominations of all heavyweight candidates will be submitted today. As a result, different craze is observed across the state.
Today, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha visited Ram Thakur Ashram, Sri Krishna Mandir, Lakshminarayan Bari, Jagannath Bari and Anukal Thakur’s Ashram before submitting the nomination papers. After performing puja at Durga Bari, he joined the procession to submit the nomination papers.
On this day, he said, the capital city of Agartala has witnessed great enthusiasm among the officials while going to file the nomination papers today. Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Vishwasharma and Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh and BJP’s North East Coordinator Dr. Sambit Patra and Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Deepak Majumder are present.
Meanwhile, BJP state president Rajiv Bhattacharjee came out to submit nomination papers after performing puja at Kasba Kali Bari. He will submit his nomination today as the BJP candidate for Banmalipur constituency. On this day, Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik also performed puja at Durga Bari and took blessings of the mother before submitting nominations. He left the temple straight to Dhanpur. He will submit the nomination to the office of the Sonamura Sub-Divisional Magistrate.
