Agartala: Jan 29: Next Monday is the last day to submit nomination papers for the Thirteenth Legislative Assembly elections. On this day, the candidates of several parties including Congress, BJP, Tipra Matha, Trinamool Congress will submit their nomination papers to the returning officers. Meanwhile, a total of 76 nominations have been submitted till January 27.
But according to the history of the past days this figure will increase. A total of 350 nominations were received in 2018. Around 300 nominations are likely to be submitted on the last day. Two persons in the office of Sadar Sub-Divisional Ruler under West District, and two persons in the office of District Ruler and O- Nominations will be accepted. One in Sramik Bhaban, one in Shiksha Bhaban, one each in Palace Compound and Gurkha Basti will receive R-O nominations. Altogether there are 8 R&O offices in Agartala. Party workers will march before filing nominations. The Election Commission has taken special initiative to complete the entire process in a peaceful manner.
Chief Electoral Officer Kiran Gitye visited R&O offices on Sunday to check the management. West District District Magistrate and District Election Officer Debpriya Vardhan, West District Superintendent of Police Shankar Debnath, West District Police Observer and other officials were also present. Special security arrangements have been made for Agartala, Jiraniya and Mohanpur, said the Chief Electoral Officer. Held meetings with all R&O police officers and representatives of all political parties. Time, route and place are fixed accordingly. All necessary steps have been taken. The Chief Electoral Officer wants everyone’s cooperation in this matter. He gave a message to ensure that no untoward incident happens. Nominations for 6 assemblies, Barajala in Palance Compound and Pratapgarh in Gurkhabasti will be collected at the office of Sadar Sub-Divisional Ruler and District Ruler. Simultaneously, nominations for 3 assembly seats will be taken in Jiraniya and Mohanpur. In all, a total of 14 assembly nominations will be submitted in the western district.
