Narendra Chandra Debbarma was the Revenue and Forest Minister of Tripura. Not only that, he was also the founder of the ruling coalition partner party IPFT. He passed away on January 1, yesterday. His last rites were performed with full state honors at his ancestral home in Maharani’s Naxi Rai para in Khowai district today. On this day, tributes were paid to him in Akashbani Office, Tripura Legislative Assembly and Secretariat.
Early this morning, the body of late revenue minister NC Debbarma was taken to Akashbani office. He was working as a station director in Aakashbani there for a long time. Aakashbani staffs paid tribute to him by garlanding him. Later his body was taken to the Tripura Legislative Assembly. Assembly Speaker Ratan Chakraborty, Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman and others paid floral tributes there. Then he was taken to the secretariat. There Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Transport Minister Pranajit Singh Roy and others paid tributes by offering wreaths.
Kalyanpur MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury, Krishnapur MLA Atul Debbarma, EM Kamal Kolai, Tripura Police IG Soumitra Dhar, Khowai District Superintendent of Police Rathiranjan Debnath, Khowai District Magistrate DK Chakma, Teliamura Divisional Police Officer Prashon Kanti Tripura, was present to pay their last respects. Teliamura Sub-Divisional Magistrate Abhijit Chakraborty, District Forest Officer, Commandant of TSR 12, 10 and 6 Battalion, Forest Department Officer, Khowai District Congress President Shabda Kumar Jamatia and other dignitaries.
Finally, his body left for his ancestral home in Maharani Naxi Rai Para. When his body reached there, family members and relatives broke down in tears. A lot of people gathered to see him last. His body was draped in the national flag and given a musical salute.
