Agartala: Nov 30: The bust of Maharaja Birchandra Manikya was unveiled at the Birchandra State Central Library in Agartala on Wednesday. The bust was unveiled in a ceremony organized by the Department of Higher Education. Besides, Raja Rammohan Library and Digital Library were inaugurated on this day. State Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma inaugurated Raja Rammohan Library and Digital Library by cutting the ribbon.
Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Mayor of Agartala Pur Nigam Deepak Majumder, Council Chairman of Higher Education Council Arunoday Saha and others were present. After unveiling the bust of Maharaja Birchandra Manikya in Birchandra State Central Library and inaugurating Raja Rammohan Library and Digital Library, the Deputy Chief Minister told reporters that Birchandra State Central Library is a very old library.
The Maharaja was so modest that he named the library Birchandra Library. Do not put king before the name. Therefore, a bust of Raja Birchandra Manikya has been installed in the library to honor him. At the same time the digital library has been inaugurated. This will benefit everyone. The Deputy Chief Minister expressed the opinion that this library is a historical library.
