Agartala: Nov 23: A discussion meeting was held by the traders and buyers of agar products under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Dr. Manik Sahar at a private hotel in the capital on Wednesday. The meeting discussed how the state of Tripura can become financially prosperous by marketing agar products. Buyers from other states of the country were present to purchase agar products. Chief Minister exchanged views with them.
Speaking, the Chief Minister said that the state government and the central government are giving importance to how the agar products can be sent to different places in the country and abroad. Later, while facing the journalists, he said that after pineapple, rubber, bamboo, this time agar product will present Tripura in the court of the world. The state will be much better economically with agar products. An exchange meeting was also held to see how to extract chips from agar wood and market it. And the chief minister expressed the hope that the Tripura government will get a lot of tax from the agar industry in the coming days. For a long time no initiative was taken to utilize the agar wood of Tripura.
The Chief Minister said that the present government is giving special importance to agar products to market various products including perfumes. Chief Secretary JK Sinha, TIDC Chairman Tinku Roy, PCCF and others were also present in the meeting organized on that day. The chief minister along with others inspected the various products of the agar traders who participated in the meeting. Agar traders from different parts of the country participated in this meeting.
