Agartala: Nov 15: A City Level Advisory Forum was formed to make Agartala a Smart City as per earlier plans. An important meeting of the City Level Advisory Forum was held at the conference hall of the Agartala Pur Nigam office located in the city center of the capital on Tuesday. Union Minister Pratima Bhoumik, Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor Dipak Majumdar, Municipal Corporation Commissioner Shailesh Kumar Yadav, MLA Doctor Dilip Das and others were present in the meeting.
In the meeting, the progress of the Smart City project was discussed in detail. Union Minister of State Pratima Bhoumik said in an interview that a lot of things were done while bringing Agartala under the smart city. Smart City work is progressing at a fast pace. Under the leadership of City Level Advisory Forum Chairman Deepak Majumdar, the officials are doing good work, working in different places. Two important roads in Agartala will be completed within the next two months. He also said that 1 thousand people have booked for the light house. An additional 300 people are looking to book. When the smart city project of Agartala city was going on, many people made many comments. But the officials continued their work despite various criticisms, said Union State Minister Pratima Bhoumik.
Meanwhile, Commissioner of Agartala Municipal Corporation, Shailesh Kumar Yadav, said that so far what work has been completed in the smart city and how much money has been spent for this work was discussed. The central government has so far disbursed Rs 294 crore for smart cities. The state government has provided Rs.78 crore. Agartala Smart City has received a total of Rs 372 crore so far. Out of this Rs 342 crores worth of work has been completed. Smart City has 67 projects. Out of this 49 projects have been completed. The remaining 17 projects are in progress. He also said that 91 million rupees worth of work is being done for four lanes at the airport.
The road work is targeted to be completed between January and February. Also, the drains have been renovated to free the residents of Agartala from rain water stagnation. Besides five water pumps, six diesel pumps have been installed. Besides, Rani Pukur, Dim Sagar, Mordern Club Pond have been renovated. Also two kilometers area on both sides of Howrah River in Agartala city will be developed. City dwellers can make morning trips there. He said that initiatives have been taken to clean the river water.
