Law and order in the state is very good – Chief Minister
Agartala: Nov 09: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha is also in charge of Home Department, he went to the police headquarters on Wednesday for the first time after taking charge. He held a meeting about the state’s law and order situation. Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan, senior police officers including IG Law and Order and Superintendents of Police of various districts were present.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha exchanged views with the police officers in the meeting. Speaking to the journalists later, he claimed that incidents like theft, murder and rape are going down. He told the police officials that law and order in the state should not deteriorate ahead of the elections. The chief minister assured to look into the issues raised by the police regarding infrastructure, staff shortage. He said, the law and order of the state is very good as is clear from the assembly.
However, Chief Mionister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha yesterday claims the law and order situation is good in the state. He further said the opposition parties in state made baseless blame about law and order situation. CM makes it clear that there is no deterioration of law and order situation in the state.
He further added, “Since 2018, there has been an overall decline in crime rate in the state. Crime rate in Tripura has declined by at least 40 percent”. It may be mentioned here that Tripura has been rocked by a series of rape cases, investigations into which are still underway. Moreover, political clashes between workers and leaders of the BJP with workers and leaders of opposition parties have been reported frequently.
