Agartala: Nov 09: BJP’s deputy head, main accused of Kalyanpur gang rape, arrested on the way to flee Bangladesh today. Two fugitive accused arrested in gang rape cases in Kalyanpur police station area. At around 10 o’clock this morning, the Paharmura police arrested the two accused while fleeing to Bangladesh. The absconding accused are ruling party village deputy chiefs Bidhan Bihari Dutta, Ratan Debnath.
The OC of Kalyanpur police station is reluctant to open his mouth on this matter. Allegedly, OC of Kalyanpur has always been non-cooperative to the media in various cases. The incident was not left out today when two accused were arrested and brought to Khowai police station in an important matter like minor rape case. OC Tapas Malakar is trying to avoid the media under some anonymity, time will tell what is the reason behind this.
However, on October 25, a minor girl had been kidnapped by a few miscreants owing allegiance to the BJP locally and they raped the girl all though the night. Despite searching her family members could not trace her. On the next morning the girl returned home in a traumatized condition.
The incident had sparked a furore in entire Kalyanpur area and the police was fprced to take action. On the basis of the complaint by the victim the SDPO of Kalyanpur Prasun Tripura arrested Aditya Debnath, Tapas Debnath for involvement in the gang rape. However the situation continues to be highly volatile as the victim girl belongs to the indigenous community.
