Agartala: Nov 05: Tripura becomes the first state in India to have the first modified Bio-village Solar Hamlet. Conservation and enhancement of biological resources uninterrupted energy and power are essential for rural economy ecosystems improve livelihoods and sustainable development. Keeping this objective in mind the Department of Biotechnology of the State Government and Tripura renewable energy Development Agency under the department of power have jointly implemented the bio village solar Hamlet project at a cost of Rs 80 lakh in the Kharansingh Para of Killa using the latest environment friendly biotechnology and solar energy technology.
The State’s first Bio Village was inaugurated by the Deputy Chief Minister of the State. Minister of People’s Welfare Department Ram Pada Jamatia and other guests were also present on this occasion. Mushroom cultivation units, piggery, Duckery, fishery, goatery, and poultry have been implemented under this project. Biotech kits biopharming and training have been provided also. Besides 61 families have been provided the energy saving electrical gadgets.
Speaking to the reporters Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varman said solar pumps have been installed for irrigation farmers are producing double crop instead of single crop with double income. All total 61 families of this village are enjoying uninterrupted power supply through solar micro grid and now they are using lights, tv, mobiles, internet etc. Along with this the villages are improving themselves financially and educationally by doing waving and handicraft work at night. Solar street lights have been installed in Chhaimarua market. Farmers and other shopkeepers are able to sell their vegetables and miscellaneous products still night which is improving the rural economy.
He further said a community solar drinking water plant with a capacity of 45000 liters per day has been installed to meet the scarcity of drinking water. Bio gas plant has been set up to supplement LPG and wood which is also producing high quality bio fertilizers decide saving fuel Rs 1000 per household per month is being saved by not using LPG or firewood.
The main objective of the project is to promote green technology like solar water pumps, bio mass cook stoves and bio gas plants for sustainable production of agricultural and allied sector related products.
