Agartala: Nov 04: A senior Congress leaders and former MLA Asish Kumar Saha, along with MLA Sudip Roy Barmman and the five members Congress delegation today met DGP Tripura Amitabh Ranjan to complain regarding a section of police officers who allegedly are acting like ruling BJP-RSS cadres and taking politically motivated suo motto cases and steps against the opposition party leaders and supporters who are in fact the victims and on the contrary denying registering cases against the real perpetrators as they are from the party in power.
The Congress delegation admonish that if police plays partial role then very soon common people and the opposition parties shall start taking action against them and things may turn worst. Later speaking to reporters, Saha said that initiative have been taken and very soon people of the state shall witness that all opposition parties of Tripura come together in order to revive democracy in the state and so that people get back their rights. When asked what he means by all opposition parties he viewed it consist of Congress, all communist parties including the CPIM and TIPRA Motha.
The statement of the Congress leader came only a day after former CM and CPIM politburo leader Manik Sarkar during a press conference had announced that since last 1.5 months time CPIM is trying to unite the secular democratic Opposition against the BJP-RSS in Tripura. Earlier Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman after leaving BJP in the month of February this year had openly declared that to restore democracy back in Tripura so that the people of the state can continue their rights including freedom of speech and voting all opposition parties should fight united. Recently he also said that very soon he shall called leaders of all opposition parties for tea to discuss on this though with just four months to go for the scheduled assembly election of Tripura the opposition parties are not willing to declare if there is going to be any pre poll alliance among them.
