Agartala, July 30: Two drug traffickers were arrested on Sunday, along with a luxurious vehicle and a significant amount of heroin, which revealed their latest strategy to transport drugs while evading police detection.
Recent reports indicate that drug traffickers in Agartala, the capital of Tripura, have been exploiting the fact that security personnel generally do not thoroughly check government vehicles, drugs traffickers have resorted to using fake identification in these vehicles to safely transport drugs without attracting police attention.
On the basis of specific information the arrests were made by the staff of East Agartala police station, under the supervision of Inspector Rana Chatterjee.
The apprehended vehicle had identification boards of the urban development and horticulture department, which were confiscated.
A specific NDPS case has been lodged against the arrested individuals, as informed by Debaprashad Roy, the Sub-divisional police officer of Sadar subdivision.
In addition to the drug traffickers, a notorious bike lifter was also arrested with a stolen bike from Sepahijala district.
All three suspects will be presented before the court, with the police seeking remand for further investigation informed the officer.
