Agartala: Dec 17: Agartala is getting a facelift as Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit the state for few hours on Sunday. A five days Swachh Bharat Abhiya was launched that continued till Saturday and in which large number of public along with elected representatives, top officials, staff of various state and central government departments, security forces and PSUs took part.
All roads, bus sheds, terminals, busy areas, footpaths, markets, offices, parks, water bodies were cleaned, along with walls, road dividers, roads which were washed, painted and decorated as colorful flags, banners and billboards of various developmental activities and welcoming the PM were placed across the roads from the MBB airport towards the capital city. Later in the day during a press conference the Information and Cultural Affairs Minister Sushanta Chowdhury informed that the PM is schedule to reach here on Sunday at 2.15 PM at the MBB airport and where he will be welcomed by CM Dr Manik Saha, Deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varma, Union Minister Pratima Bhowmik, MP and other high officials. He will be attending a programme at the Vivekananda Maidan where the Griha Pranesh programme for 1,51,019 rural and 54526 urban households constructed under PMAY is going to take place.
Moreover, the PM is also going to inaugurate the State Institute of Hotel Management, Agartala Government Dental College and IGM, widened of bypass and lay the foundation stone of 32 roads 232 Km roads under PMGSY, beside the foundation stone for 112 state roads of around 542 Km length.
He informed that some 72000 people from across the state are likely to be there tomorrow at the public program of the PM at Vivekananda Maidan and for which, small vehicles, busses and special trains have been arrested. Decorations at the Vivekananda Maidan is also going on at war footing as senior officials of administration and police are haunting there and monitoring the work and security. CM along with other cabinet ministers are also visiting the spots and inspecting the ongoing work.
Meantime, DGP Tripura Police Amitabh Ranjan informed the adequate security measures have been taken and patrolling across the border with Banglasesh and vigil in the capital has been intensified for the visit of the PM. Bite
