Agartala: June 16: In response to heightened electricity consumption, Agartala’s Electricity Board has instituted new regulations requiring consumers to report any increase in usage within ten days. Minister Ratna Lal Nath announced that failure to comply will result in power disconnection and fines, as per the Indian Electricity Act 2003. This move aims to manage transformer loads effectively.
Additionally, plans are underway to underground LT and HT lines in various municipal areas, with an estimated budget of 2100 crore rupees to be completed within two years. This initiative is expected to address the issues faced by legal consumers due to unauthorized usage.
