Agartala: Dec 14: On the one hand, the whole smart city is full of drugs. On the other hand, the state government is issuing licenses for bike forces to prevent drug addiction. So, on one hand the slogan of creating a drug free Tripura, on the other hand the government is distributing licenses to open liquor counters through the party leaders in return for huge sums of money to increase its income. Some mandal level leaders within the ruling party have gone down to fish in muddy waters. On December 10, the locals joined in opening a liquor counter in the area.
Majority of them were supporters of the ruling party workers. They demanded that the license issued in the name of Ranjit Rishi Das in the area should be cancelled, and the counter should be opened in another area from Ahaliya area because the area has Dr. BR Ambedkar School, Navodaya School, Rishipara School and a Nursery School. If the liquor counter is opened in the area then the environment will be ruined. However, Ranjit Rishi Das could not open the counter due to pressure from the locals. Even after the police went, the situation could not be brought under control. But there is a secret understanding going on among the local BJP leaders too.
In the end, they brought the issue before the people, this time the police officer of Sadar sub-division was asked on Wednesday. Most of them were Mahila Morcha workers. On this day, Mandal leaders and local residents surrounded the room of Sadar Divisional Police Officer Ajay Kumar Das. One of the protestors, a female leader of the Morcha, said that an attempt is being made to open a liquor counter in Panchabati Bazar, under Ward No. 26 of Thirteen Pratapgarh Assembly. But the drug empire is already running in the area. Even though the police cooperated against drug addiction, the local residents had to conduct operations against drug addiction. In an alarming situation, the government has allowed liquor counters to open again. Therefore deputation has been given to Sadar Divisional Police Officer to close the liquor counter immediately keeping in mind the future generation. Meanwhile, Sadar Sub-Divisional Police Officer said that he will bring the matter to the attention of the District Magistrate by writing a letter. Besides, the police officer of Sadar Sub-Division admitted that the complaints of the local residents are correct. Now it is to be seen what action is taken by the administration. Local mandal leader Sanju Dey, ward president and Tabar Tabar BJP leader were present during the deputation.
