Agartala: Feb 26: In a significant development, the Food Department recently conducted a thorough raid on Cake Plaza, a bakery situated at RMS Square in the city. The outcome of this operation was the immediate closure of the shop due to widespread irregularities.
The decision to raid Cake Plaza was prompted by multiple allegations that had accumulated over time. Concerns had been raised about the shop’s practice of selling expired food items. Acting on these allegations, the Food Department carried out an inspection, revealing a concerning array of issues. Among the findings were numerous expired food products, moldy cakes, and even contaminated packaged food items.
An official from the Food Department emphasized that the shop’s offerings were unsuitable for human consumption. Furthermore, the shop’s overall hygiene conditions were found to be subpar.
