Agartala: Dec 03: State Chief Minister Prof. (Dr.) Manik Saha’s concerted efforts to reslove the betel nut supply. From now on, the betel nut farmers of the state can supply betel nut normally as before.
For the past few days, betel nut farmers in various parts of the state, including the Jampui hills, were facing problems in supplying betel nuts to the neighboring state of Assam. The problem mainly arises from the illegal entry of betel nuts into Assam from Myanmar. Vehicles carrying betel nuts from Tripura were not allowed to enter Assam despite having valid documents.
Aware of this, the State Chief Minister contacted Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma at various times and requested them to resolve the issue. Realizing the importance of the matter, the Chief Minister of the state Prof. (Dr) Manik Saha also spoke to the Chief Minister of Assam on Saturday. Finally, the Chief Minister of Assam Province assured of an immediate solution. Betel nut farmers from various areas including Jampui were looking for a solution to the problem. So, this step of the Minister of Home Affairs is blowing the air of happiness among the concerned betel nut farmers.
